Morphing Butterfly
A morphing butterfly is created in the Indigenous northwest coast art style. Two people are seen emerging, one a woman, the other a man. It is a story of becoming, into the man or woman you choose to be. A sacred first breath, of this lifetime, and a continuation of breaths from all other lifetimes. In the traditions of the north west coast indigenous peoples, men were seen with large copper nose rings and women earned larger stretched lip labret piercings as they gained nobility in their community. Two spirited people wore whatever fit their spirits expression. Butterfly’s symbolize growth and rebirth, an excellent representation of the stages of life we all encounter, from this lifetime, past lifetimes and on to the next…
